Love is in the Air

The origins of Valentine’s Day are murky, but most of the versions contain martyrdom and mystery. The mystery part lines up with my grade school memories of glittery cutout cards rife with cupids that I sent to boy crushes while I waited to receive some glittery cupids of my own. We actually had to have cards for everyone which, in retrospect, I realize was an exercise in inclusive kindness. Along with the cards came those candy hearts stamped with fun sayings, red cinnamon candies, and Hershey Kisses.

As I grew older, I became aware of Valentine’s Day’s consumer edge, and for many years I rejected the notion of having one day to express my love. Now I feel that any occasion to celebrate love is worthwhile, even if it’s sponsored by Hallmark.

Valentine’s Day is about love and romance which comes in many forms.

So this Valentine’s Day spend some time thinking about what gives your loved ones pleasure. David and I like to listen to romantic songs and hope to play some music this year that will get us up and dancing.

And so many more…..

Happy Valentine’s Day
